Another Milestone

Another milestone reached: Research results from the Bliss-52 study has been released. Bliss-52 is one of the two crucial trials conducted to evaluate the efficacy of Benlysta—the first potential lupus treatment in over 50 years that’s pending FDA approval next month. http://bit.ly/eCB49M

Lupus and Pregnancy

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would show some love to my Lupie blog.  I am now pregnant!  Yippie.  I also have been fortunate enough to not have any Lupus flares since being pregnant.  Which is a good thing since I cannot take my medicine.  I feel bad that I missed the walk in October but I had to fly to Orlando for work.  I am hoping to participate next year.

TTFN!

Lupus Walk and TTC

Unfortunately, I cannot walk for Lupus this year because I will be away on business.  I am still excepting donations on my donation page.  This will go directly to the Lupus Foundation.  Also, I have a bit of good news today but I have to see the doctor this week and make sure everything is good before I spread the word to my family and friends.  Wish me luck. :)

Fret Over Health Coverage No More

President Obama signed the Health Care Reform package in to law in March 2010, which will extend insurance coverage to as many as 32 million Americans who currently do not have health insurance, as well as provide much-needed protections for people with lupus and other chronic conditions.

According to Medical News Today, Americans who have been denied health insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition can now apply for the Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP).

Lupus and TTC

I am happy to report that I have been feeling terrific lately in terms of my Lupus.  I have not had any recent flares and my energy level has been up.  However, my husband and I are TTC and I seem to be having some difficulty.  I know I am high risk so I guess I am also a little scared.  I am constantly questioning my body now.  Everyone keeps telling me to be patient and I am trying really hard but it is driving me mad.  I want more than anything to have a beautiful, healthy, happy baby without any complications.  Wish me luck!

Join me in the Walk for Lupus

There are over 1.5 million Americans diagnosed with lupus and approxmately 65,000 are in the state of Illinois.

I am fundraising for the Lupus Foundation of America, Illinois Chapter through their Walk For Lupus Now event.  Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation.

The money raised for this event will help the Lupus Foundation of America, Illinois Chapter continue their mission to inform, educate, and promote awareness of lupus, and to support those affected by the disease.

Diagnosed

I was diagnosed with Lupus in November 2009.  I had never heard of Lupus until then.  I went to the doctor after experiencing extreme fatigue for months and it was then that I learned of Lupus.  I won't go into all of the details of several doctors visits and blood tests to finally arrive at my diagnosis but I will say that the diagnosis explains a lot and also still puzzles me.  I am hoping to create awareness for lupus with my blog by posting information and resources over time. A once very active person, it is crippling in more ways then one to not be able to move quite as much as I used to but I will be darned if I let a little Lupie Lou get the best of me. Mind over Matter!
